About the Artist

Art has been an intrinsic part of my life and since early childhood, I found solace in expressing myself through painting.

In recent years, I have become more aware of the need to honour the artist within me and sharing my form of expression can be a daunting experience but I view it as a form of connection.

Using oils has been my preferred medium because of the richness in consistency, it is forgiving, and the slow drying time merges beautifully with my evolving flow of expression.

Nature is my source of inspiration. I always find myself immersed with respect for the awe, wonder, beauty and the serenity in which nature brings to me.  On my hikes, I can’t help but notice the vibrancy in colours from landscapes, to water and the seductive folds of flower petals.   Through observation, you become aware of the parallels between nature and our human experiences such as death, renewal, determination, adaptability and transformation.

I mainly paint from the photographs captured during my travels and hikes.  Frequently I find myself transported back to the feelings or emotions at the time the pictures were taken and sometimes the mood might be reflected in the title of each painting.

My intention is for each piece to evoke some feelings of energy, joy and calm.

Thank you for visiting.
